Exciting New Venture!!!

We have added SHEEP to our farm!

Not just any sheep… DAIRY sheep!

We are pleased to welcome our flock, who have joined us from 4 different homesteads/farms, from Ohio and Michigan!

They are such fun, and feel a little like we’ve added dogs to the farm! We aren’t used to livestock that want snuggles, treats, and wag their tails! 🥰

I know, you are surprised to learn I don’t snuggle our steers or ducks 🤣

One of our sheep is a momma ewe who had just weaned her lamb. We started out milking her twice a day, getting around 1/2 gallon per day!

You best believe there is more to come regarding this exciting new venture of ours.

For now, check out how cute these sheep are…

The gift that keeps giving!

Not only is the milk good for drinking. I have made cream cheese, yogurt, whipped cream, and yummy baked goods with our sheep’s milk!
The children have loved when I made them “warm” milk in the evenings before bed!

Warm Milk

This recipe is per person, so I usually make around 4-5x this recipe for my 5 children!

  • 8oz milk
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp of honey or maple syrup

Add all ingredients to a saucepan and heat to desired temperature. For my kiddos, that’s around 120* but I prefer my drinks a little hotter than they do!
